There are places in nature and culture with a value and importance reaching far across geographical and political boundaries. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) seeks to encourage the identification, protection and preservation of cultural and natural heritage around the world. These sites are illustrated on postage stamps, giving also a lot of factual and historic information about each site.

Philatelists of all over the world discover here the most simple, complete and effective site dedicated to philatelic auctions.  In English, French and Dutch. 

History on Stamps (by Bjorn H. Bakken, Norway)
Excellent site featuring (political) History on Stamps, as well as philatelic themes such as forgeries, perfins, and more.  Highly recommendable.  In English.

Old World Archaeological Study Unit 
An excellent philatelic site, based in the United States, about Philately in Archaeology, with a wealth of information. Free checklists on selected topics. 

Philately and World Heritage
A web site showing a selection of stamps covering the World Cultural Heritage Subject. 

Pierre Albuisson's Engraved Stamps 
The French engraver Pierre Albuisson's engraved stamps for France and the francophone world. In English and French.

A very useful site with a constantly growing list of links to websites worldwide on any topic, plus a lot of additional information about stamps. 

UNESCO World Heritage Center 
Complete listing of all World Heritage Sites in the world.  Heritage is our legacy from the past, what we live with today, and what we pass on to future generations. Our cultural and natural heritage are both irreplaceable sources of life and inspiration. Universal Postal Union (Switzerland)
A lot of information about UPU, links to all postal authorities world wide, and the WNS-numbering system, the latter being effective as of January 1st, 2002.   In English and French.
