Hundertwasser. Pictorial Postmark Uelzen Germany 22nd October 2001.

Hundertwasser. Postcard from Uelzen, Germany. Note the rounded corners of the postcard, for which Uelzen has sole rights.

The front of the postcard carrying the above pictorial postmark.

The other images show the ARTE-Restaurant at the railway station.

Please follow the below link to visit the Railway-Station.

The postcard is exclusive for the city of Uelzen, and is ONLY available there, but in any Hundertwasser Shop postcards from all other Hundertwasser-projects are available, mostly with a black mourning border, and depicting photographs by Christa Kreuter.  A particularity of the postcard from Uelzen is also the rounded corners, which were demanded by the Hundertwasser-office in Vienna.

On 13th September 2001 the square in front of the Hundertwasser-Bahnhof in Uelzen was renamed to

"Friedensreich-Hundertwasser-Platz"

Both Christa Kreuter, and the director of the Hundertwasser-Office in Vienna, Mr. Joram Harel, were present at this ceremony.

The ARTE-Restaurant at the railway station is managed by Mr. Rainer J. Bruns, who also runs the "Stadtcafé Ottensen" in Hamburg, with the interior decorations kept in Hundertwasser-style, and which has just been totally refurbished.  Mr. Bruns is also manager of the company "Alternativ Bus Reisen", which arranges Hundertwasser-trips between the  Stadtcafé Ottensen in Hamburg and the Hundertwasser-Restaurant ARTE in Uelzen on a regular basis.

Austria 2002. Hundertwasser. Cover with special postmark.

At the occasion of the Special Exhibition "Hundertwasser-Sonderausstelling Gmunden Junior '02" (Austria) a special postmark was designed by Harry Hoffmeister, Munich (Germany), and used for the first time on 24th August 2002.

The cover to the left is an unofficial FDC, showing the cachet and the postmark on the same cover, and sent to me by Mr. Hoffmeister personally.

Unfortunately the stamp has nothing to do with Hundertwasser. The stamp is in the Euro-currency, and all Austrian Hundertwasser-stamps are denominated in Schillings.

You can read more details about the postmark here, on Mr. Hoffmeister's Hundertwasser-website.  The site contains a lot of information that is not available anywhere else.
